The Manager of Business Development and Sales holds responsibility for understanding the industry and the company position in the marketplace; responsibility for the implementation of programs designed to secure new business and retain existing business consistent with corporate objectives; and responsibility for providing others in the organization with marketing information as required to make key decisions.  In addition, this position builds and maintains strong customer relationships by understanding the customers’ changing needs, generating proposals and monitoring profitability.

Job Description:

  • Build, develops and maintains business relationships with prospective clients, present clients, and the general public to support and enhance the promotion of the company with their reputation as superior service providers.
  • Research leads, uncover needs and persuade decision makers to allow ODW to service their transportation and logistics needs.
  • Effectively communication though cold calls, emails, and social media outreach
  • Manages the maintenance of existing CRM (Hubspot) databases, including ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Trade Publications to track leads, contacts, opportunities, proposals, sales activity
  • Develop creative outbound prospecting strategies to build a target list of organizations that fit our customer profile
  • Facilitate sales meetings via phone or web to investigate and determine customer business and supply chain needs
  • Engage with mid-level to C-Level executives, assess prospects needs, and set qualified meetings through effective communication
  • Work with our Director of Sales to effectively hand-off qualified meetings and understand the ODW sales process
  • Maintain high performance against goals and metrics (Set Appointments, Qualified Meetings, Activity Goals (Phone, email social media, etc.))
  • Manages and develops reports for the Executive Committee and the Sales & Marketing department utilizing the information maintained within the Hubspot database, email communications and other available tools
  • Responds to quote requests through the internet/website.  Prepares proposals or forward information to other sales team members for follow-up
  • Handles leads forwarded by Marketing or other sales team members.  Prepares proposals and follow-up on all prospective customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manages transition of accounts from sales to the operations team - start up process
  • Provides accurate and timely information to operational staff regarding new business or changes in existing business. 
  • Provides ongoing communication with warehousing, transportation and value added groups to maintain high quality service (i.e. opportunity pipeline)
  • Increases business from our existing customers by developing and maintaining relationships and through specific programs including quarterly business reviews.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled corporate meetings keeping marketing as a primary focus for everyone in the organization.
  • Maximizes the department’s utilization of Hubspot contact management software including user setup and maintenance, report design, troubleshooting, etc.

Other Duties:

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; ideally in business, marketing or related field; or four years or more of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have superior Microsoft Excel skills, as well as be proficient in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
  • Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • 1-2 Years of Inside Sales Experience Preferred
