Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of professionals as they support the start-up of new operations, as well as the continuous improvement exercises of on-going operations. This position will lead the development of programs to improve productivity, capacity, processes, people, systems, reporting and sustainability within the network.
- Maximizes safety, service, quality, and productivity throughout operations by utilizing best practice techniques in the areas of facility layout, operating methods, material handling concepts, and measurements. Passionate about operational performance
- Hires, trains, develops, and mentors engineers and supporting staff
- Leads the evaluation of current processes to identify, recommend and implement improvement opportunities in work methods, procedures, systems or equipment to increase throughput, waste reduction, quality, and safety
- Tracks results of project implementations and develops case studies for both internal and external customers
- Effectively prioritizes improvement opportunities across operating locations, working with all levels of leadership to achieve targets
- Evaluates and implements technology and automation opportunities for use within distribution centers
- Ensures project deliverables meet budget and time constraints
- Partners with the IT, Analytics and Operations Teams to improve current warehouse systems and tools
- Conducts performance reviews, including formal corrective action to ensure an environment of accountability and recognition
- Relentlessly develops knowledge of new technologies and innovation in the 3PL industry
Education and Experience
- 7+ years of experience in an Operating, Continuous Improvement, or Supply Chain Engineering role
- 3+ years of experience managing engineers or salaried professionals
- Must currently or in the past have worked for a Third Party Logistics provider in Engineering.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Labor Management Systems (LMS), Engineered Labor Standards, and Data Analytics
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
- A degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or related operations discipline
- Must be able to assume leadership role in a fast paced, team-oriented environment dedicated to customer satisfaction and the achievement of safety, quality and productivity goals in a time-
- Strong proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies, tools and techniques
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite products and logistics and supply chain execution systems (WMS, TMS, etc.)
